Sharon Johnson is a licensed attorney and mediator admitted to practice in Maryland and Virginia. Her primary areas encompass all aspects of family law: divorce, custody, property, child support, and spousal support, as well as adult and child guardianship matters. Within the area of family law, her particular strength is the ability to handle high conflict custody cases. Sharon also serves in the capacity of Court-Appointed Best Interest Attorney/Guardian Ad Litem in difficult child custody cases.
Combining zealous advocacy with compassion and understanding, Sharon lends her expertise to help her clients navigate the rough waters of separation, divorce, custody, and support. Drawing from her broad background and experience, Sharon provides the individualized attention, compassion, and understanding each of client deserves.
In addition to her litigation and mediation practice, Sharon is committed to the advancement of the legal profession and her community. She currently serves as President of the Maryland Women’s Bar Association (WBA) and is a long-standing member and of the Judicial Selections Committee, having served as Co-Chair for many years. Sharon was awarded Co-Chair of the Year twice for her service on the Judicial Selections Committee and earned the WBA Pro Bono Award.
As a member of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association, Sharon has worn multiple hats, including her tenure as Chapter President and Liaison to the Montgomery County Women’s Commission where she has lectured on the issues of divorce, custody, support, and property distribution.
Sharon has been a long-standing member of the Maryland State Bar Association and Family Law Section. As a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, Sharon served as Co-Chair of the Family Law Section, receiving. the Outstanding Chair of the Year Award and admission into the Montgomery County Bar Leaders. Sharon has also served as an Attorney Monitor for the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission.
Sharon is professionally trained and certified as a Best Interests Attorney for children (formerly guardian ad litem), as a mediator, and as a collaborative law practitioner.
