Linda M. Dorney has been practicing law for over thirty (30) years. She has extensive experience helping individuals and business owners through the bankruptcy process and has assisted numerous debtors in obtaining confirmed Chapter 11 plans of reorganization. Ms. Dorney has handled in excess of one hundred fifty (150) Chapter 11 cases, obtaining confirmed plans in both the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland and for the District of Columbia. She is able to use this experience to assist her clients in reducing the amount of their financial obligations and obtaining to best possible result in difficult situations.
In addition, she has also prosecuted and defended against actions for preferential transfers and fraudulent conveyance in adversary bankruptcy litigation, as well as dischargeability litigation. She has also handled a substantial amount of civil litigation in both federal and state courts. This includes claims for breach of contract, fraud, and negligence, as well as divorce and custody matters.
Ms. Dorney is a member of the Maryland bar and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She has co-authored several briefs in both the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She has also co-authored several briefs and presented oral argument before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
Ms. Dorney was a contestant and won one game on the game show Jeopardy. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and traveling.
